Disaster Search Dogs
7 02 2010
I salute to all the canine friends that are involved in the search & rescue task , putting in all their effort & sweat to save lives.I am thankful for their unconditional effort for this tough and dangerous task to save the mankind. But shame to say, humans are culling their fellow canine known as strays, humans are abandoning them, abusing them…arghh..and the cruel list goes on forever.
Sometimes I wonder if this is the right way humans are treating the animals? the inhumane way to treat them..
Below is a video clip taken seconds before tha Haiti earthquake. They said that dogs can sense natural disaster..what do you think?

Is It Ok to Keep My Dog Or Cat Chained Up Or In A Cage?
6 02 2010From SPCA website
No. This is not an acceptable practice. Chaining or caging up your pet constantly is inhumane; your pet can become restless, agitated, distrustful, physically ill or develop psychological problems.
Caution to pet owners
An owner tied up his dog on a chain. While he was out, the dog got entangled in it thereby restricting its movement. When the SPCA responded to the call along with the police, the dog was already dead.
A post mortem revealed that the dog had died of heatstroke, unable to seek shade because of the chain restricting him.
Many pet owners tie their dogs up – the number of reports received monthly by SPCA are testament to this. Unfortunately, they do not think of the serious consequences which can occur as a result.
Dogs are not prisoners…if you really need to chain your dog, Please don’t even think of keeping pets.

Lil’ Ollie’s latest update
6 02 2010Received sms from J last nite that she’s going to visit Lil’ Ollie and was so eager and anxious to see how big he has grown! My jaws almost drop when I saw his latest pics..OMG..he has grown so much within 2 weeks..I think he looks like a boxer with that face and long legs.I think there’s some boxer blood in him.I’m so happy for him
Lil’ Ollie and his new family are so blessed to have each other.I sincerely wish Lil’ Ollie and his family many blessed years ahead..and happy always
Lil’ Ollie has a special place in my heart for he ’s so tiny, so obedient, such a good boy and the only pup that never give me much hassle and sleepless nites ..LOL..he’s so independent u know..he knew his manners and always stay at the front foyer and kitchen area until we give him green light to roam the whole house..awww..I really miss him
It’s really amazing and happy to see how a homeless , frail & week stray pup has transformed to a such a beautiful dog now..but Lil’ Ollie is just one of the more fortunate minority that is able to be rescued and find a good home.
This pic was taken on 5 Jan when he was rescued by Project JK.He was so weak and lifeless then..feeling very hungry..he must be starving for days…
by rescuer
“We visited Ollie 1 yesterday. I was quite amazed and very touched to see how he has grown and changed. His coat is so soft and lovely. His stature strong and healthy. A far cry from the lifeless pup we picked up only last month.
The load of worms in his system kinda stunted his growth in the first 3 weeks. But in the… last 10 days, he absolutely caught up, now u can see his ’solid’ puppy fats and “impressive looking muscles”, as his owner described. I am so happy for Ollie.

Poor JRT chained in toilet for 3 years
5 02 2010I can’t believe it..if you really dislike a dog or have no proper care for a dog, why would a human chain a dog in toilet for damn 3 years? This reminds me of GiGi, the old Mini Pinscher, who was locked in toilet for 3 years but at least she was able to move about ! But both cases are unacceptable!I really wish to tell these cruel dog owners..IF YOU CAN’T EVEN PROVIDE BASIC PROPER CARE FOR YOUR PET, PLS DON’T TORTURE THEM AND DUN EVEN KEEP A PET!FIND THEM A GOOD HOME !
It’s every pet owner’s responsibility to ensure the dog/cat is living in a proper and healthy environment. This is totally animal abuse ! Can’t stand these people! I wish there’s some law to protect the animals..if there’s any!sigh
Received this note from a rescuer friend
P. S poor tortoise…in a small plastic tub..
*****************************************************
Got a call from a stray feeder friend and learnt about the pride of this poor boy. According to owner, he was chained in toilet eversince her son was given the dog by a friend. Reason being, she don’t want him to pee and poo when he’s free to roam.
The dog was in the toilet chained when we reached the house. Water from the washing machine is still draining into the toilet and the poor boy can hardly stand cos the floor is wet and slippery. Obviously the toilet bowl is the only dry place the dog can lay and the chain is too short and heavy…We are sure he’s drinking from the basin with a tortoise in it cos the plastic water bowl is at a corner with no water. They feed him pedigree dry food and ‘bones’. The lady owner still can tell us that his ribs are showing cos she feed him only once a day and don’t is it long term tied in toilet so legs are weak…
Dog is human friendly and so excited when we brought him out for walk. So happy to roll on the ‘dry’ glassland…sigh. As we have other things on hand, we asked if we can bring the dog away tmr but the male owner dont want to released…saying a friend wanted to adopt blah blah and will call me tmr. He’s in the bedroom and yet don’t want to come out and talk to us…what heartless humans are they?
As the shelters are full, we need a foster home/adopter for this dog should we be able to save him out.
Dog is estimated to be about 4 years old, not sterilised. Thank God, there’s no noticeable skin problem and his teeth are still clean and is human friendly.
Please drop me a email at yee.alycia@gmail.com if u are able to help.
God bless.
Alycia

Ah Bee needs a home
3 02 2010He’s waiting for his beloved master who will never come back…very poor boy which reminds me of Hachiko, when his master died and he still ran to the railway station everyday without fail for next 9 years.
Sadly, Ah Bee’s elderly owner passed away recently and now, we are helping to find a new family for Ah Bee.
He has seen the vet, and was declared healthy except for some skin allergy cos Ah Bee is now living alone in his deceased owner’s house and no one cleans the house. His deceased owner’s relative will come over to feed him.
It is sad enough for Ah Bee that his owner passed away. It is even more sad that he now lives all alone in his deceased owner’s house, waiting for her return which will never happen.Pls help to spread the words…share with people you know..let’s help to find a good home for Ah Bee.
Ah Bee is still young and we are sure he will make his new family happy. Give him a new life. Email us at projectjkteam@yahoo.com.sg or call Richard at 9365 0858.

The Moon
31 01 2010The Moon is so round and bright tonite…it’s lunar 15th! the big round moon reminds me of Chang-er in traditional Chinese tales..I can’t really remember the story ..haha..but I think it’s something to do with rabbit and her lover. It also reminds me of werewolf and dracula..HAHAHAHA..but it’s nice to view the round moon tonite…
J sent me an sms about Big Ollie. He has been whining and crying at his new home.I guess he must be afraid of new environment, being left alone downstairs (the family doesn’t allow him to go upstairs), miss JoJo..he always have playmates like his siblings when they were still at the farm and JoJo when we fostered him.He loves to follow humans and JoJo.As long JoJo is in the living room with him, he’s fine with that. But JoJo will sleep with us everynite, so Big Ollie tend to whine too if we leave him alone in the living room.He looks upon JoJo like a leader, always follow her around, play with her, bully her..
We hope he can adapt new environment soon which i think he can.And hopefully the new family forgive him for his whining..:P puppyhood is usually tougher ..need more time and attention than an adult dog.
Good news is Anne has found a home
look forward to her updates at her new home with a 11 months old GR.
Their last few pics together
