Solar Eclipse

When the moon is obscured, we experience a lunar eclipse.  This is the most common and observable kind, but when the sun is obscured, that is a solar eclipse.  It is the most dramatic, for not only can darkness fall at noon but it becomes very still.

Lunar Eclipse

During a lunar eclipse, the earth blocks out the rays of the sun which normally cause us to say that the moon is shining. 

The darkening of the usually bright moon is due to Earth’s shadow covering it.  The sun, earth and moon are aligned in

such a straight path that only the rays of light coming from the sun that make it past the earth get to shine on the

moon’s surface.  These are filtered through our atmosphere which is full of tiny bits of matter.  As in the case of a

beautiful red sunset, it is because of this pollution that we may see the light, which is bounced back to our eyes by the

particles, as red.  

During a lunar eclipse, people familiar or not with the facts of astronomy and optics, tend to say that the moon has

 ”turned red.” 

 

According to Tibetan Buddhist practice, effects of actions are multiplied by a factor of 1,000 during a lunar eclipse.

MC 2 days

I think I must have caught the flu virus from Ber & HL!!!Blocked nose is disrupting my sleep..and this JoJo got up 2 times middle of the night to rub her body on the floor mat & eating her kibbles again!Her nightly routine is also disrupting my sleep!!Urghhh…duno why she always like to wake up middle of the night ….it’s becoming a habit liao…..

Dr Wong gave me 2 days MC..told me stay indoor , avoid going places to spread the virus to others…but I still need to go for my appointment with a doctor at Beach road tomorrow..hope I am better by tomorrow..

The bad weather is causing many falling sick…and so I decided to cook green bean soup which is cooling and sweet, so it is suitable for the HOT-rible weather in Singapore right now. Green beans (or some call ‘mung beans’) are considered by Chinese as a ‘cooling’ food, and some believe it is a good alternative home remedy for acne (maybe it works by bringing down the body heat?). I love green bean soup coz it’s tasty and also known to be anti-oxidant dessert!

It’s my first time cooking green bean soup..hur hur…but by learning from recipe I think should be correct lah!I also add in sago & gingkos!

Ingredients
(Serves 4) 

- 125g Green Beans (aka mung beans) – soaked overnight and drained
- 2 Pandan (aka Screw Pine) Leaves, dried ends cut, tied in a knot
- 1.25 litres water
- 50g rock sugar
* 3 small pieces of dried orange (tangerine) peel
* 50g canned lotus seeds or gingko nuts
* 1/3 cup sago (small tapioca pearls)

* are optional items

Directions
1. Place water, orange peel and pandan leaves in a pot and bring to boil.
2. Reduce the fire, add beans and lotus seeds/gingko nuts and simmer, partially covered, for about 30-50 minutes (or till beans are soft). Add some hot water if needed. Add sugar to taste during the last 5-10 minutes of cooking.

 

Soak tapioca pearls in cold water for 20 minutes. The pearls will expand and turn bright white. Drain. In a medium pot, bring water to a boil. When water boils, turn off heat and add the drained tapioca pearls and stir constantly for 1 1/2 minutes, or until the pearls are translucent with a very small white center. Taste the tapioca, it should be soft but not goopy. Drain the tapioca in fine mesh sieve and run cold water through the sieve to stop the tapioca pearls from cooking further. Swish with your hands to make sure that the pearls at the bottom of the sieve have a chance to cool down. Drain and add to the green bean soup.

Hahaha..I’m so proud of myself..manage to cook nice greenbean soup (I think so lah)..sweetness just right..at first attempt..kekekeke..

Sentosa Gals Nite

We finally made it..!!!we always talked about going for holiday but due to each individual’s busy schedule,it’s always so hard to arrange!so this time  we decided to start from local trip first..haha..at Siloso Beach Resort!!Chris came to pick me and we met the gals at vivocity.

A nice resort with lush greenery, nice suite we have with roof garden roof upstairs & private jacuzzi  pool! Nice seaview !!!

We chatted,played childhood games(007,country attack,police catch thief etc),drank wine & whisky, played poker,soaked in jacuzzi,joked,went up & down the room & roofgarden whole nite..LOL

Jes & Chris also went for a nite swim at the hotel pool.And we had great fun taking lots of pics & funny videos!!Listened to oldies …relaxed…hahahaha….

H1N1

I have lost keeping track of H1N1…the figures are increasing daily…the flu virus that has been spreading fast in Singapore..and who are at higher risk? People like me lor…Spoke to Dr Ler today at her clinic..” you go to many clinics everyday, you should wear a mask!” she said and patted my shoulder.She’s really like a motherly figure to me though she’s not that old lah..” yes yes you ‘re right! ” I replied , with the thought that my company do provide masks especially for Medical sales people like me.” Dun worry lah..I will only use your product..u take good care ok!” I walked out of the clinic , proceed to the next clinic  which is H1N1 ready clinic..the clinic nurse told me to leave asap..” There’s one suspected H1N1 case coming later! U better leave now….”

Risk? yes I am at higher risk…but I think most medical sales are immune to viruses….our body are already accepting these viruses since we get close contact with patients and doctors everyday…:P

Mama so far only taught her 2 trick (sit & bang bang)..sometimes she perform the tricks very unwillingly (buey gan wan)…though she understands the tricks but she may not want to do it even if you have her fav treats in hand…she may growl or whine abit then do it…..sibei kuai lan ahhh!

Angry thoughts

Sudden thoughts came into my mind…Uma & I went to AVA sometimes back regarding someone claimed he’s from Pest Control and he would like to adopt a mongrel.About 3 months back, we posted Cookie’s adoption and this man who spoke with malay accent called Uma regarding about Cookie.When he couldn’t reach Uma about a day later or so, he called me.

I smelled  something fishy and started questioning him where’s his company, address,name of company etc.This man told me he owned a pest control company in Tiong Bahru area and he intend to adopt one mongrel to keep at his office.( keep in office? as guard dog?). I tried to sound him further and he couldn’t reply my questions.He kept saying he’s a dog lover and wants a mild tempered dog like Cookie.He said he works closely with AVA to catch the strays..and when I asked him ” since you in this industry and catching dogs are easy for you. why would you want to adopt from me? you can easily keep any of the strays you caught?!?!!!” He replied they are usually very fierce which he doesn’t want.

FXXK him man!he must be thinking of easy way out to hit his quota so he can surrender the poor dogs to whatever SHITTY authority have ordered them to do so!

When U & I asked the Indian officer from AVA if they do really engage pest controls to catch strays, he couldn’t reply directly …and in the end he said yes they do engage these pest control companies but insist there’s no such thing as quotas!He said they don’t anyhow pay for any dogs they caught.They will have indicate only specific dogs in the area which the pest control people have to catch….c’mon..all strays look about the same…how can you tell which stray it is if I tell you to go Loyang Avenue to catch one brown mongrel?

I hope these people can sleep in peace , pass away peacefully when they are old, live with clear conscience, nothing bad happen to them or their family …coz there’s this thing called KARMA…it’s the law of Karma..nobody can escape from it ..no matter how much joss papers you burn , how many trips you go Temple,church weekly to confess your sins ..no matter how much you pray & chant if you don’t stop killing and repent..someday you will get to meet them to repay back what you have done to them..

I start to think of White paws and her siblings….hope they rest in peace…

Choose day..Tuesday

another tiring day…but I duno why I’m tired..probably coz JoJo has this nightly routine- wake up in middle of night and wanna go out of room to rub her body on the floor mat then come back to room and sleep…weird habit!

This morning attended quarterly meeting and when it’s IT dept’s turn to present, I almost dozed off!!The presentation by my boss was damn boring and fast..God knows what was she talking about with her strong Taiwan english accent…like rojak mix!Zzzz…and the only part that kept me awake is the nice buffet breakfast after the meeting.The choco cake from Cedele is really rich and nice! I had 2 slices of that..hehe!

Usual annoying questions from her again..I am losing my patience working with such people who knows nuts about her job, and creating more problems and headache for others.Again…I really doubt her competency..and my boss’s way of hiring people!Urghh..it’s driving all the sales people crazy !I really dread thinking of the Sunway Lagoon trip my boss has approved…urgh..I rather stay at home rotting with JoJo.

Back home, I am so used to doing my housechores fast …and the mess made by JoJo greets me..!vaccum and mopping is a daily chore for me..coz JoJo sheds pretty alot! Some thinks I’m a cleanliness freak..vaccum and mop daily!change bedsheets every 4-6 days (I think it’s normal), wash JoJo’s clothes every 2-3 times she wore when she sleep.I think these housechores help abit in keeping fit as I hardly exercise…and I am putting on pounds!!!I’m really trying very hard to watch my diet but I love to eat…and always feel guilty after that ! I tried drinking slimming tea that contains laxatives to help clear bowel, on i-slim weight loss liquid, weight loss pills,natural weight loss pills…urgh…I really wanna give up liao! if I have the money, I will go for vaser to get rid of the unwanted fats in my body! Go for complete overhaul!!LOL..yes money can turn an ugly duckling to a beautiful swan..but I don’t have ! so I just get on with life, be contented and resign to fate! Hah!

Still, I’m enjoying cooking nice food for the mother dog & her 4 puppies..I really don’t know how long they can stay there..and end up like White Paw !AVA is so “on” culling dogs in this area!siggh..a sad reality ..unless I have the ability to own a farm or dog shelter to home these homeless dogs.Really..sometimes u wish u can do lot more but not everything is within your means.
